The xylangurro or ajuri is a variety of melon and not a cucumber as its name suggests. In Greece it is grown mainly in Crete where it is widely consumed. It is hard and stiff, eaten with the skin and reaches around 70 cm in length. The skin is light green in colour and quite thin. The flesh is tasty and not at all bitter.
